Marshon Lattimore: Even though Patrick Mahomes has more interceptions than touchdowns, Isaiah Pacheco has been injured since Week 2, Travis Kelce is not the same player he used to be and their offensive tackles are, well, offensive, they are still the last undefeated team in the NFL. It has become clear that the Chiefs are a team where defense is paramount. They are one of the top five teams in both yards allowed per game and points allowed per game.

After reading all of that, you might think that I would trade the Chiefs for offensive help since they just acquired a defensive player this week in Josh Uche. However, I think they continue to shore up the defense and call up the New Orleans Saints and trade for their talented cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

The Chiefs have been one of the absolute best defenses in the NFL so far this season, and bolstering that is never a bad thing, but many may think they need to bolster the offense. You have confidence that you are going to get it done when Patrick Mahomes is the quarterback and Andy Reid is the head coach.

On defense, they lost their starting cornerback Jaylen Watson to a broken leg in week seven and now have to find a replacement for him. Some time ago, Lattimore injured his leg and was unable to play. The Chiefs can be patient with him and let him heal up until he is ready for the playoffs.

They are still one of the best teams in the NFL, and it looks like they will make the playoffs. Lattimore was once one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, but injuries have set him back a bit in recent years. However, the Chiefs are one of the best teams in the NFL when it comes to getting everything out of a player, and if anyone can turn Lattimore back into an All-Pro corner, it’s Spags. If Lattimore moves on to the Chiefs, it could be Super Bowl glory for the Chiefs.

If Lattimore has that much talent, why would the Saints trade him? Simple: the Saints are a team that needs to rebuild, and Lattimore hasn’t been healthy enough to keep him long-term. On top of that, they will be over $60 million over the cap and will have to part with some players.

This trade makes sense for both teams and would be easy to accomplish without being too expensive for either team. The Chiefs get a talented cornerback who can help them with their Super Bowl aspirations, and the Saints get coverage gap relief and a draft pick. It makes too much sense for both sides for it not to materialize. The Chiefs have no problem making trades to help their team, and this is exactly the kind of trade they make that we all later see as a brilliant move.
