iOS 27 Release Date: Apple Update Brings New Siri AI and Visual Intelligence Features

India: The iOS 27 release date is September 14, with Apple rolling out the latest iPhone software update across markets including India. The update introduces a new Siri experience, expanded Visual Intelligence, additional Liquid Glass customisation and enhanced parental controls.

Apple has not specified an exact release time for iOS 27. Based on the timing of previous major iOS updates, the rollout in India could take place at around 10:30 pm IST.

The update will be available over the air on compatible iPhone models. Users can check for it by opening Settings, selecting General and then Software Update. Before installation, users have been advised to back up important data and ensure the iPhone has enough battery or is connected to a charger.

iOS 27 supports the iPhone 11 series and newer models, along with the second- and third-generation iPhone SE. The supported lineup also includes the iPhone 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 series, as well as the iPhone Duo.

A major feature of the update is the new Siri AI experience. Apple has introduced a separate Siri app where users can begin conversations and revisit previous interactions. The experience uses Apple’s foundation models along with Google’s Gemini models and can use personal context to access information from apps and perform supported actions.

Visual Intelligence has also been expanded. Users can analyse objects and scenes through the Camera app, ask Siri questions about what they see and take relevant actions. The feature can additionally analyse content displayed on the iPhone screen.

The Liquid Glass interface introduced with iOS 26 gets more customisation options. Users can adjust the intensity of transparent interface elements, while Apple Intelligence features are expanded across apps including Photos, Safari, Wallet and Shortcuts.

iOS 27 also adds new parental-control options such as Ask to Buy, Ask to Browse, contact approvals, time allowances and schedules. The Phone app gets a redesigned interface, while Messages and Mail receive contextual suggestions. Safari also allows tabs to be organised by topics.
