Oklahoma Tornado Damage: In the early hours of Sunday, a powerful tornado struck southeast Oklahoma City, causing extensive destruction in neighborhoods near SE 89th Street and Sooner Road. The storm tore through homes, overturned vehicles, and brought down power lines, leaving residents in shock as they scrambled to survey the aftermath. (Oklahoma Tornado)

One of the hardest-hit areas was a neighborhood close to Oklahoma Heart Hospital, where homes suffered severe structural damage. Many roofs were ripped completely off, and some brick walls were torn apart by the high winds. On 84th Street, power lines came down onto houses, compounding the chaos as residents checked on their neighbors and tried to account for everyone’s safety.

Local storm chasers, including Nick Smith, documented the widespread damage early Sunday, showing fences and trees scattered across yards and roads. The destructive path left cars flipped over, trees split, and debris littering the neighborhood streets. (Tornado News)

Aaron Martinez, a local resident, shared his harrowing experience. “We didn’t even have time to get to the storm shelter; it just hit so fast,” he said. His home suffered substantial damage, but he’s thankful that, like many of his neighbors, he escaped without serious harm.

Officials have confirmed several injuries, though fortunately none were life-threatening. Emergency responders, along with local residents, have been actively involved in relief efforts, clearing debris and assessing damages.

With another wave of storms expected to hit later today, authorities are urging people to stay vigilant and be prepared for possible severe weather. For the latest updates and weather alerts, residents are advised to tune in to local news sources as they work together to rebuild and stay safe amidst the ongoing storm season.
