Houston Weather: Warm Days Ahead as Drought Conditions Worsen

Weather Houston: After a brief taste of cooler fall weather, Houston is back to a warming trend, with temperatures expected to climb into the upper 80s this week. High atmospheric pressure will dominate the region, suppressing rain chances and continuing the city’s dry spell.

Day-by-Day Outlook:

Sunday: Expect a sunny day with comfortable morning temperatures in the low to mid-60s before warming into the mid-80s by afternoon. This is the perfect day to get outside, but it marks the start of warmer days ahead.

Monday: Similar weather is forecast, with lows in the 60s and highs in the mid-80s. Skies will remain clear, with little chance of rain.

Tuesday-Thursday: By midweek, highs could touch 90°F, which is about 10 degrees above the average for this time of year. Increased humidity will add to the warmth, with mostly sunny skies persisting throughout the week.

Drought Concerns Continue:

Houston is facing moderate drought conditions as the area enters its 26th consecutive day without measurable rainfall. The ongoing dry spell is expected to continue, potentially extending to 30 days by Thursday. While there’s a slight chance for isolated showers as a weak cold front approaches, the forecast remains uncertain.

Houston’s all-time record for consecutive dry days is 48, set just last year during the summer months. With no significant rain expected this week, the city is moving closer to breaking that record.

Looking Ahead

The 10-day forecast shows warm and dry conditions, with several days approaching the 90°F mark. Southeast Texas typically doesn’t see tropical storms past mid-October due to cold fronts pushing storms eastward, so while hurricane season runs through November, Houston is less likely to be affected.

Stay tuned for any weather updates, and check back for detailed forecasts as Houston navigates this unseasonably warm and dry fall.
