Forecasters attributed this extreme heat to climate change, with Space City Weather’s Matt Lanza calling the occurrence “astounding.” Eric Berger, another Space City Weather meteorologist, emphasized the broader impact of climate change on fall temperatures, telling Houston Public Media, “It’s hard to ignore climate change pushing temperatures up.”

Relief is on the way, with Tuesday expected to be the last 90-degree day of the year. A cold front will bring significant change starting Wednesday, with highs dropping to the mid-70s and overnight lows dipping into the 50s, or even upper 40s in some areas.
