The two-time Cup Series champion will not compete in the Coca-Cola 600 or the accompanying Truck Series event, according to statements released by his family and Richard Childress Racing.

Richard Childress Racing echoed the family’s request for privacy while confirming Austin Hill will step into the No. 8 Chevrolet for the weekend.

His No. 8 Chevrolet will be ready and waiting for him. We’re thankful to Austin Hill for stepping in.”
