Detroit Lions let go of rookie WR Isaiah Williams

Isaiah Williams: Rookie wide receiver and return specialist Isaiah Williams was waived by the Detroit Lions.

Williams led the Lions in preseason with 11 catches and 123 yards. He impressed with six 71-yard punt returns. Williams struggled to remain in the regular-season lineup.

The rookie’s biggest moment was Week 8 against the Titans. Williams returned a kickoff 36 yards in his NFL debut, his longest play.

Numbers are tight for the Lions. Several injured players need roster space before returning. Thus, Williams was waived despite his potential.

Dan Campbell, Lions coach, has always praised Williams’ talent. He didn’t fit with so many wide receiver and return options.

The Lions are looking at Brodric Martin and Emmanuel Moseley, who are both coming back from injuries. If activated, they need more moves to fit on the roster.

Williams could help even though he was waived. If claimed, he could be a great player on special teams. The Lions could call him back for practice if he doesn’t.

Williams only played for the Lions for a short time, but his skills could help him find a new team in the NFL. It’s interesting to see what he can do, whether he moves back to Detroit or somewhere else.
