Birmingham Airport Evacuated Amid Police Incident: Train Services Continue as Normal

Birmingham International Airport was evacuated shortly after 1 PM today due to a police investigation involving a suspicious vehicle, prompting West Midlands Railway to issue travel advisories for passengers. The evacuation led to large crowds, including holidaymakers, being temporarily relocated to the NEC.

The airport confirmed that while some departing flights were suspended, several arrivals were diverted. By 3:30 PM, Birmingham Airport announced that the investigation had concluded, and operations would gradually return to normal. Passengers were advised to check with their airlines for the latest flight information.

Despite the incident, train services at Birmingham International Station remain fully operational. A West Midlands Railway spokesperson stated, “Train services continue to run as normal, but we advise customers to travel safely during this situation.” Bus services were also restored by 3:30 PM.
