PM Kisan Yojana 2024: In a significant pre-festival announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to deliver a major gift to over 9.5 crore farmers across the country. On October 5, 2024, PM Modi will officially release the 18th installment of the PM Kisan Yojana directly into the bank accounts of registered farmers during an event in Washim, Maharashtra. This marks the second installment under the Modi government’s third term, with the 17th installment having been disbursed on June 18, 2024.
This release coincides with crucial upcoming state elections in Maharashtra and Haryana, heightening its significance. On the same day, voting for the Haryana assembly elections will also take place.
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana, launched in 2019, is one of the largest direct benefit transfer (DBT) schemes globally. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to small and marginal farmers to help them with agricultural expenses like seeds and fertilizers.
Under this scheme, farmers receive ₹6,000 annually in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each. Since its inception, the government has transferred ₹3.25 lakh crore to the bank accounts of over 9.25 crore farmers across 17 installments. The upcoming 18th installment, scheduled for October 5, 2024, will add another ₹2,000 to the beneficiaries’ accounts.
As per the official guidelines on the PM Kisan Yojana portal, all registered farmers must complete their eKYC to continue receiving benefits. The eKYC process can be done via the OTP-based system available on the PM Kisan portal or through biometric verification at nearby Common Service Centers (CSCs).

Additionally, beneficiaries can also check the status of their payments via the PM Kisan mobile app.
The PM Kisan Yojana has proven to be a lifeline for millions of small farmers, providing them with crucial financial support to manage rising agricultural costs. With over ₹3.25 lakh crore distributed so far, the scheme has significantly eased the financial burden on farmers, especially during times of high inflation.
As the festive season approaches, this latest installment comes at an opportune moment, offering much-needed relief to farmers across the country.
