Avelo Airlines: Avelo Airlines has officially launched its latest operational base at Bradley International Airport (BDL), further establishing its footprint in Connecticut. The expansion introduces four new domestic routes this week, with additional services, including Avelo’s first international flights, scheduled to begin later in November.

Boosting Connecticut’s Travel Options

Located in Windsor Locks, between Hartford, Connecticut, and Springfield, Massachusetts, Bradley International Airport will now host two Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, which are known for their reliability and fuel efficiency. Avelo’s strategic move complements its existing base at Tweed New Haven Airport (HVN), situated just 55 miles away, forming a dual-base network. This setup enhances Avelo’s ability to offer affordable, direct flights to more destinations, while strengthening its commitment to serving the region.

Andrew Levy, Founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines, expressed the airline’s dedication: “Avelo is proud to be Connecticut’s airline. Our expansion at BDL reflects the tremendous support we’ve received statewide. With 29 nonstop destinations, including our first international routes, Connecticut travelers now have unprecedented connectivity.”

Inaugural Flights and Future Growth

The airline’s inaugural flights from Bradley, which commenced on November 7, operate twice weekly to North Carolina destinations: Charlotte/Concord (USA) and Wilmington (ILM). Additionally, Avelo connects travelers to popular Florida cities Daytona Beach (DAB) and Lakeland/Orlando (LAL).

Next week, the airline will introduce more routes, including flights to Houston Hobby Airport (HOU), further cementing Avelo’s Houston roots, as the airline’s headquarters are based there. On November 16, Avelo will make history with its first international service from Bradley to Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ), followed by flights to Cancun, Mexico (CUN), starting on November 20. Both international routes will also operate twice weekly, marking a significant milestone in Avelo’s evolution from a domestic carrier to one offering international service.

Economic Impact and Future Potential

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont praised Avelo’s arrival at Bradley, highlighting the airport’s growing prominence. “Bradley has implemented significant improvements, making it one of the nation’s top airports. Avelo Airlines’ expansion cements Bradley as the Northeast’s most convenient airport and provides exciting new opportunities for residents,” he stated.

This expansion not only boosts travel options but also promises economic benefits for the region, potentially spurring local tourism and business activity. Since its inception in 2021, Avelo has been focused on underserved markets, and its latest move aligns with that mission. The airline’s emphasis on point-to-point routes allows for quicker and more direct travel, bypassing major hubs to better meet passenger needs.

Avelo’s Commitment to Reliability and Affordability

Operating a fleet of 20 Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, Avelo currently serves 52 destinations across 23 states, Puerto Rico, and its new locations in Jamaica and Mexico. The airline’s customer-friendly business model includes ultra-low fares that cover government taxes and fees, with optional add-ons for a tailored travel experience. Avelo continues to prioritize reliability, boasting impressive on-time performance and minimal cancellations.

This Connecticut expansion has created hundreds of new jobs, with significant investments in crew training and customer service. Avelo’s success has been reflected in its three consecutive profitable quarters, demonstrating its efficient and strategic growth.

As Avelo Airlines extends its wings at Bradley International Airport, it’s set to reshape travel options for Connecticut residents, offering a blend of domestic convenience and international adventure. With an eye on innovation and a strong commitment to its passengers, Avelo’s journey continues to soar.
